Toyota Prius

According to U.S. vehicle sales data for 2007, more Americans bought the Toyota Prius hybrid last year than the Ford Explorer SUV. The Ford Explorer SUV has been the top selling SUV for over 10 years. The demand for the Prius was up 69% last year probably because of the high price of gas. I've heard predictions of $4.00 a gallon gas by spring which should increase the demand even more for these and other hybrids. Good news for the air we breathe.

Perhaps a more realistic explanation for the increase in Prius sales is the federal tax credit for purchase of hybrid-technology cars.

But haven't they been giving a tax credit for several years?
