A Family Visit

My niece Erin, her husband Ben, and their daughter Margaret Carol visited us last weekend. These are a few pictures I took. Margaret had a wonderful time playing with a magnetic paper doll set I bought her and also playing with some of my stuffed animals, as well as the real animal, Lida Rose. On Sunday Cameron's parents joined us for lunch. After everyone left Lida Rose crawled up on the little pile of stuffed animals Margaret had been playing with and fell asleep.

Polly Ann Rogers Dawson

Polly Ann Rogers was born in Calhoun, Tennessee in 1792 to Capt. John "Hellfire Jack" Rogers, a British Captain in the Revolutionary war and his 3rd wife Alcie, Alsey, or Aley Vann. Alcie Vann was the daughter of John Joseph Vann and Wah-Li, a Cherokee. Polly Ann married Samuel Riley Dawson and had 7 children. She died in 1854 in Mills, Texas. Polly Ann was also the half sister of Tiana Rogers Gentry who married Sam Houston. Polly Ann was my GGGG Grandmother.

June and Christine

This picture was taken on my birthday. We were still living in Houston so it was probably my 7th. My grandmother Ninie woke me up in the morning and gave me June, the baby doll. I had gotten Christine, the older doll the Christmas before. I gave Christine to my niece. I'm not sure what happened to June. I may have given her to my niece too. I'm sure if she still has the dolls her children will play with them and love them as much as I did.

Annie Laura Magee Robertson (1882-1967) was my grandmother's sister.

I just love these old pictures. Walter Andrew Magee (1884 - 1942) was the brother of my grandmother Mollie Ora Magee Wells.

The boy in the picture Is Baxter Henry Willis, Jr (1912-1938). The girls are Martha Willis and Rebecca Willis.
Martha was married to Joseph Taylor Hudson. They lived in Spartenburg, South Carolina. Rebecca was married to Clarence Zipp of Beaumont.

Susan Lena Wells White

Here are 2 pictures of my mother's aunt, Susan Lena Wells White (1882-1968). She is the sister of my mother's father James Daniel Wells. My mother was named after her.

Today would have been my mother's 96th birthday.
