Helping Dogs in China

My niece Erin, who is in China told me about a dog (maybe a few cats too) rescue organization that was started by an American living in Beijing. One reason I haven't wanted to go to China or any other Asian country is because of the animal abuse. I see enough of that here. That's why it was so nice to see what is being done there to help homeless dogs. Here is a link to this great organization (which gladly accepts donations) http://lingyang.org/ . I sent a small donation in this morning and got a personal reply back within a few minutes. This cute little guy is looking for a forever home. If I was there I would probably provide one for him.

Yes, I am certain that you would bring it home. I would like to adopt a few myself, but traveling in China with pups is well not a great idea.

Thanks for spreading the word about the organization.

Hi Kathy and Erin,

Thanks for the support! We're just getting started and it's a lot of work.

"Huilian" (Grey Face) in the photo is currently being fostered at my home and he's a little ball of energy. He was found with his four siblings by the side of the road while we were trying to rescue another dog.

What we're trying to do is create a lively foster network so that newly rescued animals don't need to go to shelters (which are few, far away and mostly not great places for a young lad like Huilian to be stuck in).

We're super small in our impact so far, but the idea is to create a model that can be copied by other organizations.

I'll write more and keep you updated!
