Song of Peace

Song of Peace
by George Bernard Shaw

Slaughtered to satisfy our appetites,
We never pause to wonder at our feasts,
If animals, like men, can possibly have rights.
We pray on Sundays that we may have light,
To guide our footsteps on the paths we tread.
We're sick of war, we do not want to fight,
The thought of it now fills our hearts with dread
And yet we gorge ourselves upon the dead.
Like carrion crows, we live and feed on meat,
Regardless of the suffering and pain
We cause by doing so. If thus we treat
Defenceless animals for sport and gain,
How can we hope in this world to attain
The PEACE we say we are so anxious for?
We pray for it, o'er hetacombs of slain,
To God, while outraging the moral law,
Thus cruelty begets its offspring - War.

Peace, ahhhhhhhh, that would be nice. You have been very silent on the deaths still occuring in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now what about Libya? What's happened to Obama?

I'm a little surprised anyone reads this blog and comments. I've lost interest in blogging and am tired of being angry all the time about things I can't change, like wars. I don't know what to say about Obama. I'm disappointed that we are still in so many wars. I voted for him because I trusted him the most out of all the candidates to turn our country around after 8 disasterous years under Bush. I don't know the facts or what he is dealing with, so am giving him the benefit of the doubt.
I'm mostly just weary of politics and politicians in general and have decided to concentrate on what I can change, me.

Good for you! Glad to hear it. Obama has broken so many promises and the world sure is not in love with the US as many had thought. Obama has not lived up to being the "great unifier". Glad you see that he is human.

I still think Obama is the best choice and am planning to support him in 2012.

How can you say that Obama is the "best choice" when you don't even know who the opponents may be? Sounds like a definite bias to me.

You're right. I am biased. I doubt if I could ever vote for a Republican in a national election. When I said best choice I think I was referring to to best choice of the D's in the last election. As much as I like Clinton, I didn't feel like I could support her after she voted for the Iraq war.

P.S. Right now I'm just enjoying our perfect weather. I don't want to think about politics. Just returned from a walk with the pups.
