Ginger came into my life (and Sparky's) on June 12, 1998. I had her put down today. RIP sweet puppy.

I found out last week that Ginger has congestive heart failure. She is on 2 medicines but will probably not live too much longer. She is 15 and has lived a good and long life. Here are a few of my favorite pictures of her with Gracie, Sparky and Rosie. I decided to post this now because I know I will be too sad to do it after she is gone.

Rosie was adopted on this day in 1999. Here are some pictures from the first weekend she spent with us on John's farm in Anderson.

Dogs news

A few months ago I had to have Gracie put to sleep and then a few weeks after that I did the same with Sparky. I haven't blogged about Sparky because it was pretty sad. He was my first dog and practically perfect. If I had a scanner I would scan some of his pictures and put them on my blog. Now I am down to 2 dogs, Ginger and Rosie. Having 2 dogs is a lot easier but I still miss Sparky and Gracie. I'm really scared that something is going to happen to the remaining 2. I'm not ready for that. Because I only have 2 dogs and because I'm stressed about money all the time I'm planning to sell my house and move to an apt. or buy a condo. I've been asking my neighbors if they know anyone who wants to buy a house. Tonight one of my neighbors who lives a few streets over stopped by because she's a real estate agent. I feel a lot better after talking to her. Her husband built a beautiful fence for me a few years ago. I didn't know at the time that he lived in the neighborhood. She's coming back over tomorrow.

Lucy slept in my bed last night along with the other dogs. She is supposed to sleep in her crate but we decided we wanted her with us. She is getting spoiled here. Good thing her parents don't read my blog. This morning she went on a long walk and then she and Sparky took a nap together.

Here are some cute pictures of Sparky and Rosie. Sparky had just returned from getting his hair cut for the summer. Rosie wants everyone to know that she is not fat but that the camera adds 10 lbs.

Health, diet, and exercise

This is the first day of my 1,000 calorie/10 grams of fat a day diet. I started my diet at the 1st of the month but wanted to ease into the really strict caloric restriction. I'm also trying to be 100% vegan. I bought some SoySation brand soy cheese at Whole Foods on Sunday which tastes pretty good. One slice has 2 grams of fat. My soy ham has 1 gram of fat and the bread has 1 so I can have a nice sandwich for only 4 grams of fat total. I'm also having oatmeal for breakfast everyday and green tea as a beverage. I decided to quit buying Honest Tea in bottles which is expensive and just make my own with tea bags.
Sparky, my old dog is doing much better with walking now that he's taking Dr. Frank's Joint Pain Relief http://www.mypetspainrelief.com/. LibraryLioness8 who [hearts] Sparky told me about this product which is a homeopathic formula that you spray in the dog's water. Before he started taking this he was in pain and had a hard time walking even a short distance. Now he is going on 2 walks a day. Sparky says thank you LL8. Walking is also part of my diet and get healthy program so I take each of my dogs on 2 walks a day. I've been getting up early (5:15) so I can walk them before work.

Week 8: #18 Social Networking: Making friends in the comfort of your own home

This week's video is great.
For the assignment, I looked at MySpace, Rate My Space, and Dogster. My dog Sparky, with my help, created a web page on dogster. Then we added the dogster space to this blog for easy access.
Rate my space is one of my favorite sites because I love HGTV and decorating and it's fun to see what other people have done. I may add some pictures of some of my projects to it later.
I personally don't have a need for the other social networking sites but can see that they might be fun and useful for others.

Here is a picture of Sparky and Ginger. Ginger was just a puppy when my friend brought her home. Isn't she just the most adorable thing you've ever seen? Can you believe these 2 wonderful dogs were dumped on the street? If you are thinking about getting a dog, there are thousands of great dogs like these in animal shelters just waiting for a good home. If you have your heart set on a specific breed there are rescue groups for just about any breed you can imagine.
